FIXTURE COURT REQUIREMENTS

All team entering BNTA Fixtures must nominate a suitable court as a Home Court for the season.  Teams are responsible for organizing and booking their Home Court.

For BNTA Fixtures, any court of an acceptable standard may be used as a Home Court.  This includes courts at commercial centres, universities, schools as well as private courts.

Fixture Courts must be within the boundaries of the City of Brisbane.

All courts nominated as Home Courts for BNTA Fixtures must:

  • be of the dimensions, marked and fitted out as described in Rule 1 of the ITF Rules of Tennis, except that net straps and singles sticks are not mandatory;
  • be adequately fenced to allow play to proceed at a reasonable rate without undue time spent retrieving balls;
  • have a space behind the baseline of preferably at least 5.5 metres (18 feet), but not less than 5 metres);
  • have a space at the sides of preferably at least 3.05 metres (10 feet), but not less than 2.5 metres; and
  • be free of any defects or non-standard structures or fittings that could constitute a reasonably foreseeable danger to players.
  • have adequate lighting (night fixtures)

Court surfaces may be of any type currently approved for tournament play by Tennis Australia and Tennis Queensland.

Court surfaces must be of a uniform material and must be in good repair.

All venues used for BNTA Fixtures must have:

  • adequate off-street or safe, legal, on-street parking facilities;
  • readily available clean toilet facilities;
  • readily available drinking water;
  • an umpire's stand on each Fixture court;
  • adequate shelters and seating for team members when not playing; and
  • tea-making facilities (for teams in the Mixed competition).

The owner or operator of any court used for BNTA Fixtures must:

  • hold any current approval or licence as required by the Brisbane City Council for such a sporting facility (in Brisbane, this is a Places of Amusement Licence); and
  • have at least $20M Public Liability Insurance for all users of the facility and visitors.
